mini river song diary
March 11, 2012
i have wanted to make river song diary for a while. i was inspired by a fellow who fan’s birthday. she likes small things and dr.who.
i had to alter the pattern because of the scale. leather at this scale would also be tricky. so i used paper and then coated it with leather wax.
next attempt…maybe using laser cut boards?

Waldseemüller-Globus
February 12, 2011
day 12. I cut out, colored and assembled a photocopy of Waldseemüller-Globus into a real globe….or close to a real globe.
"America" appears for the first time in 1507 on the world map of Waldseemüller, on his terrestrial globe and in the associated "Cosmographiae Introductio" (Introduction to a Description of the World) by Ringmann and Waldseemüller.

Book a Week
FAIL!
I just couldn’t pull off a book every week in 2009. Too many other projects and events to deal with.
I did make a bunch of books, and experimented a bit with materials. So it wasn’t a complete waste of time.
So f0r 2010….a new book arts project. All my old books are editioned.
So planning begins for the Uninvited Guest.

this is the book i made for my cousin’s wedding.
it is beach themed, so i used a nice off white book cloth and made marbled paper using off white, perwinkle(her wedding color), and some shades of blue to accent.
nice and simple.

March 26, 2009
i am finally posting something i made back in january. i have been behind on my book a week project and couldn’t figure out why.
this little number was made from a regular calendar i cut apart and pamphlet stitched. at the top of each section was a space to write notes. these fall in between the months and are great for jotting down phone numbers or to do’s.
i added a gusset pocket in the back for extra bits.
so far b.a.w. has been going well. i have skipped weeks and then caught up. i hope to be more regular now that i have a bunch of text blocks ready and have all my book supplies organized.
yay!!!!!!

so in 2009 i am setting a goal of a book a week.
they will be small, big, experimental, things that are book like.
here are the first 2.
i figured i’d better start off with a bang and make 2.
i then proceeded to get violently ill.(that is why i am posting this on jan 20)
i got behind on posting, but I am proud to say i did make a book a week so far.

it’s alive!!!!!
February 06, 2008
so i have decided that new jersey around the year 1775 was the land of Frankenstein-ian bookbinders.
either they were blind, or they were out to create monsters. diagonal stitching, stitching sections of one sheet of paper together and then covering with tape.
i have to wonder what the hell were they thinking.
i envision a really old man being handed documents told to bind them and drinking and sewing.
beer and binding don’t mix kids.
the crazies keep me employed though.
