Crayon enlargements are photographic prints, in which the image has been reinforced with pastels or an airbrush.

In many cases these photographs were lined with acidic boards.

They can become severely deteriorated from frequent use.

This video documents the conservation of a Muster Roll from the Civil War.

 

 

“The East Prospect of City of Philadelphia” is an 18th century etching. It had been lined and attached to acidic supports.

This video documents its removal from the harmful supports and its conservation treatment.
